inspiration: A SPLASH OF RED

by Gina Holz

I recently attended a friend’s wedding at the event space Capitale in New York City. This Roman classic building was once home to The Bowery Savings Bank. This modern space still maintains its original architecture with Corinthian columns and coved ceilings. With dark floors and tall white ceilings, one could appreciate the fine details in the moldings and the architecture. I found great interest in one of the rooms in particular. While the room had a monochromatic feel of dark wood and white trim, there were splashes of red used as an accent color. Anchoring the space was a giant, red, tufted ceiling hovering over the bar. In such a grand room, the red captures your attention without dominating the space. Using red can be a bold statement. Try using it as an accent color in your accessories, art or even flowers. A little red can go a long way!

A great way to incorporate red into your wardrobe is with a small accessory.  This headband by Sweet Evie is the perfect way to make a statement without over doing it.  Wearing it with a simple outfit will allow this piece to stand out and will draw eyes up to your face!

This is my niece Xylia, she wanted to demonstrate how to make a red headband work in an everyday outfit.  She's very fashion forward!
